Myanmar’s garment exports increase gradually

According to a report by Myanmar’s “Yednabung Daily” on March 24: As Myanmar’s garment manufacturing is produced in accordance with international standards, export volume continues to grow. According to statistics, garment exports reached US$700 million in 2012, increased to US$1.2 billion in 2013, and reached US$1.3 billion in 2014. The head of the Myanmar Garment Industry Association said that garment exports will exceed US$1.5 billion this year and are expected to reach US$2 billion by 2016. It is reported that 28 countries and regions, including China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and some EU member states, have invested in Myanmar’s garment manufacturing industry. There are more than 300 garment manufacturers in operation, providing about 250,000 jobs.
