According to statistics from Fuzhou Customs and Xiamen Customs, in the first two months of this year, Fujian Province’s foreign trade import and export reached 170.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%, and the growth rate was 11.5 percentage points higher than the national level. Among them, imports were 52.36 billion yuan, a decrease of 11.7%, and exports were 118.54 billion yuan, an increase of 22.5%.
Data show that Fujian’s foreign trade growth turned from negative to positive (Fujian Province’s foreign trade import and export in January was 92.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 11.4%), and the strong rebound in exports in February played a key role. According to statistics, in February, Fujian Province’s import and export reached 78.13 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 52.2%. Among them, imports were 23.65 billion yuan, an increase of 0.7%, and exports were 54.48 billion yuan, an increase of 95.8%.
In terms of import and export volume from January to February, the three major markets of the United States, the European Union, and ASEAN ranked among the top three, with 28.68 billion yuan, 27.54 billion yuan, and 23.96 billion yuan respectively, a year-on-year increase of 15.8%, 8.2%, and 27. %. It is worth noting that, benefiting from the potential benefits of the upcoming signing of the China-South Korea Free Trade Agreement, the trade volume between Fujian Province and South Korea has increased significantly. From January to February, Fujian Province’s import and export to South Korea totaled 6.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33%.
It is understood that the export growth momentum of Fujian Province in the first two months mainly came from mechanical and electrical products and seven categories of traditional labor-intensive products. Among the seven categories of traditional labor-intensive products, except for toys, which showed a slight increase in exports, exports of clothing, shoes, textile yarn products, furniture, plastic products, luggage, etc. all had an increase of more than 20%.
Fujian Province’s foreign trade exports increased significantly in February, which is closely related to the country’s incentive policies. For example, the export tax rebate rate for textiles has been increased to 17% from January 1, which has greatly enhanced manufacturers’ desire to export. In addition, February last year coincided with the low period of exports after the Spring Festival, and the year-on-year base was low, which was also an important reason.
