On March 6, 2015, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning on the Chinese-made “QUENNYGIRL-California1985” brand children’s sweatshirts. The notifying country in this case is Bulgaria. The children’s sweatshirt reported this time is suitable for children under 7 years old. The sweatshirt has a zipper and an adjustable long rope on the hood. “CaliforniaHELLOSTAR1982” is printed on the chest of the sweatshirt. The style/model number of the above sweatshirt is N3-633. The above products belong to 67000000 (clothing) in the OECD Portal Category.
The above-mentioned children’s sweatshirts may pose a choking hazard to children. The drawstring on the hood of the sweatshirt can be stretched freely and can easily strangle children’s necks when moving, posing a suffocation hazard. This product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Bulgarian authorities have taken compulsory measures to withdraw the above products from the market.
To this end, it is recommended that relevant domestic production and export enterprises attach great importance to this.
