According to statistics from the Wujiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, from January to December 2014, the Wujiang area imported and exported silk spinning waste silk in total 351.8 tons, with a value of US$1.073 million, a year-on-year increase of 271.1% and 168.8% respectively.

In order to avoid domestic low-price competition, silk spinning enterprises in Wujiang area have turned their attention overseas, targeting countries with a large number of sericulture such as the five Central Asian countries, India and North Korea to solve the problem of shortage of raw materials. At the same time, they have also opened up the EU, Japan, North America and Wait for foreign high-end markets to improve the efficiency of finished products.
