The All Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA) recently stated that it will apply to the National Tariff Commission (NTC) of Pakistan for an anti-dumping investigation on Indian textile imports. In 2014, India exported 26,000 tons of cotton yarn to Pakistan, a year-on-year increase of 100%. Industry insiders say that a large amount of low-priced cotton yarn imported from India is harming the interests of Pakistan’s local industry. At present, Pakistan’s annual cotton demand is 17-17.5 million bales, and its domestic production in 2014 was 14 million bales.
