Pakistan’s total textile exports remain stagnant

In December last year, Pakistan’s textile and clothing exports were US$1.175 billion, down 6.38% year-on-year. The industry attributed this to insufficient energy supply in Punjab Province. From January to November last year, Pakistan’s textile exports to Europe increased, but total textile exports showed no significant improvement. Analysts said that Pakistani exporters only redirected products originally exported to other regions to Europe to enjoy preferential trade treatment, and Pakistan’s overall textile production capacity has not increased.
