On December 19, 2014, Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and BRP announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s hoodies.
The products recalled this time are Ski-Doo brand and Can-Am brand sweatshirts for children aged 2-12 years old with different numbers and colors. Product numbers include: 286485, 453215, 453265, 453320, 453321, 453375, 453376, 453464, 453618, 453658, 453707, 453708, 453660, 453661. For details, see the product description label inside the sweatshirt. The reason for the recall is that the drawstrings on the sweatshirts may get stuck on amusement equipment, fences and other objects, causing suffocation, and may also get stuck on cars, posing a risk of dragging children. The recalled products were sold in the Canadian market from August 2007 to December 2014, with a total sales volume of approximately 5,093 units in Canada.
Up to now, no reports of dangers from product use have been received. Health Canada advises consumers to remove drawstrings from sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard.
