According to statistics from Jiangsu Zhangjiagang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, from January to October this year, Zhangjiagang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau inspected a total of 298,000 tons of imported cotton with a value of US$600 million, a year-on-year decrease of 23.8% and 20.7% respectively.
According to the analysis of the relevant person in charge of the Zhangjiagang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau Bonded Zone, the main reason for the decline in both volume and price of cotton imports is due to factors such as domestic cotton subsidy policies, cotton quota restrictions on cotton imports, and sluggish demand from the domestic textile industry.
