According to Japanese media reports, Teijin Corporation of Japan announced on November 5 that it will close its Tokuyama factory in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, which produces polyester fiber. In the future, the production of polyester fiber will be concentrated in the Songshan City factory and the Thailand factory.
Teijin’s Iwakuni Factory in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture will also cease production of polyester fiber, the Mihara Factory in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture will cease processing operations, and the Osaka Research Center in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture will also close.
Teijin is a well-known multinational company and one of the giants in the Japanese chemical fiber textile industry. The above adjustments will be implemented before 2017. About 100 workers working at the Deshan factory will continue to be employed and relocated to nearby factories. About 60 staff members at the Osaka Research Center will also be reassigned.
