The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative released a list of proposed products subject to China’s Section 301 investigation and taxation, involving textile machinery products and parts. The China National Textile and Apparel Council responded that the U.S. move was unpopular with the industries in China and the U.S. and would inevitably affect further investment by Chinese textile and apparel companies in the U.S. and provide jobs for the United States. It is hoped that the United States will return to the WTO framework and resolve trade disputes through dialogue and due process.
The China National Textile and Apparel Council responded that the list covers most textile machinery products and parts, aims at my country’s innovation, and focuses on advanced manufacturing and high-tech fields.
China Textile Federation stated that for enterprises, it will increase the cost for Chinese enterprises to enter the US market and damage the willingness of textile industry enterprises to further invest in the United States. But for the industry, exports to the United States account for a small proportion of China’s textile machinery exports and will not have a fundamental impact.
The relevant person in charge of the China Textile Federation expressed strong dissatisfaction with the United States’ disregard of WTO multilateral trade rules and its adoption of obvious trade protectionist measures. It is hoped that the United States will return to the WTO framework, resolve trade disputes through dialogue and due process, and refrain from doing things that harm others and do not benefit itself. (Title: China Textile Federation: Hope the United States will return to resolve trade disputes within the WTO framework)
