From January to September, my country’s cotton yarn imports from India accounted for 26.5% of total imports, which was 389,000 tons, down 15%; the average import price was 3.1 US dollars/kg, down 4.7% year-on-year. Imports of 358,000 tons of cotton yarn from Pakistan accounted for 24.4%, a year-on-year decrease of 23.8%; the average import price was US$2.8/kg, a decrease of 4.7%. Vietnam ranked third, with an import volume of 282,000 tons, accounting for 19.2%. The proportion further increased, and the growth momentum was considerable. In the first nine months, it increased by 56.3% year-on-year; the average import price was 3.23 US dollars/kg, down 9% year-on-year.
Among the remaining top ten import source countries, Uzbekistan has the fastest growth, with an increase of 66.1%, and the import volume is 51,000 tons; Indonesia has an increase of 34.6%, with an import volume of 65,000 tons. Imports from the United States, South Korea, and Thailand all showed negative growth, with import quantities of 26,000 tons, 25,000 tons, and 29,000 tons respectively.
3. From January to September, the import volume of cotton yarn in three major provinces and cities exceeded 200,000 tons.
From January to September, the growth rates of the top three cotton yarn importing provinces and cities were all negative. Guangdong imported 414,000 tons, accounting for 28.2%, down 18.2% year-on-year. The import unit price was US$3.49/kg; Zhejiang and Beijing imported 254,000 tons respectively. tons and 208,000 tons, with a decrease of 0.5% and 24.7% respectively, and the import prices were 2.96 and 2.9 US dollars/kg respectively. Imports from Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Shandong all exceeded 100,000 tons. Imports from Fujian fell by 3.6% year-on-year, while Anhui, Xinjiang, and Tianjin increased by 46.1%, 72.6%, and 69.2% respectively.
The quantity of cotton yarn imported through general trade was 1.057 million tons, accounting for 72%, down 3.1% year-on-year, totaling US$3.11 billion; supplemented by processing trade, the import volume was 388,000 tons, accounting for 26.4%, of which 36.5% was processed with imported materials.
