On October 8, 2014, Health Canada and United Colors of Benetton jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made boys’ hooded jackets.
The recalled product is a 100% cotton boys’ jacket. The jacket is navy blue, with a brown drawstring at the waist, a zipper and 5 brown buttons on the front, snap buttons on the neck and pockets on both sides of the jacket, and sizes are S ~ XL. There is a green label on the neck of the jacket with Benetton printed on it; there is a white wash label on the waist of the jacket with the model number 2GQ1534Q0 printed on it.
The recalled products were sold at the Rockland Center (Rockland Centre), 2305 Roland Road, Montreal, Quebec, Canada from February to July 2014, but this address is no longer in business. The jacket has sold 13 units.
The reason for the recall is that the drawstring at the waist of the jacket may cause children to be caught in small spaces or car doors, causing serious entanglement accidents. So far, neither Health Canada nor Benetton has received any reports of accidents.
For this reason, Health Canada recommends that consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the waist of the jacket to avoid injury.
