According to the latest data released by the Peruvian Exporters Association (ADEX), the cumulative export value of Peruvian alpaca fiber products in the first half of 2014 reached US$72.6 million, an increase of 31.3% compared with the same period last year, among which the export of alpaca garments increased year-on-year. 14.9%, and alpaca fabric exports increased significantly by 35.9% year-on-year.
The main export markets for Peruvian alpaca fiber fabrics include: the United States, China, Italy, Norway and other countries, with exports to these countries accounting for approximately 65% of total exports; the main export markets for alpaca fiber garment products are: the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Germany, the United States and other countries, exports to these countries account for approximately 64% of total exports.
Peruvian Foreign Trade Minister MagaliSilva announced that in order to broaden the market for Peruvian alpaca fiber and its products and establish its value chain, in addition to continuing to carry out relevant promotion activities, the country’s government is also scheduled to hold a conference on November 10-15 this year. An alpaca fiber promotion event is held at the CerroJuli Convention Center in Arequipa Province in southern Peru.
