According to a report by Turkmenistan’s “Neutrality” on August 9, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedov mentioned three times at the enlarged meeting of the National Economic Work Cabinet from January to July this year. The textile industry has expressed strong dissatisfaction with its current situation.
We do not agree with the proposal to modernize the textile industry and include this task in the national economic strategic development plan. The country will spend huge sums of money to build new enterprises and equip them with the most advanced international equipment to produce various textile products and create thousands of Tens of thousands of job opportunities, and comprehensive measures will be taken to solve the problems existing in enterprises in this field. Don’t point out that it is necessary to improve the sense of responsibility of business leaders and effectively organize production management and marketing. The textile complex is an area of important strategic significance in the national economy. It has developed rapidly in recent years and has encountered some difficulties. Measures must now be taken to solve the existing problems and find a way out. It is necessary to achieve the goal of modernizing the textile industry infrastructure, improve product quality, expand product varieties, and improve product competitiveness. It is necessary to fundamentally reform the textile industry and solve problems such as industrial structure adjustment and management improvement. Where possible, establish production consortiums or group companies, explore other management forms in the textile industry, and carry out corporate restructuring. Privatize and restructure old and dying companies or sell them to individuals. Immediate action must be taken to study the textile market demand, organize the sales of produced textile products, expand exports, and increase profits.
There are currently 73 textile companies in Turkmenistan, including 68 production companies. From January to July this year, the total output of Turkmenistan’s textile industry was 796 million manats (approximately US$279 million).
