-The volume and price of imported clothing at Xiamen Port increased

According to news from the Xiamen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in the first half of 2014, Xiamen Port imported 339 batches of clothing worth US$7.067 million, a year-on-year increase of 25% and 48.2%, showing a good momentum of rising volume and price. 2 batches were found to be of unqualified quality and returned for shipment. In addition, there are 75 batches that did not have qualified Chinese labels.
Clothing imported at Xiamen Port mainly comes from countries and regions such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Italy, and Hong Kong, China. There are two main types of imported clothing. One is for sales, such as mid-to-high-end clothing of well-known foreign brands, which is used for sales in the domestic high-end market and some foreign brand clothing manufacturers, which are imported for domestic sales after production; the other is for domestic export. Clothes are returned for sale due to remaining stock or due to quality, size and other reasons.
According to the person in charge of the import of a well-known brand in Xiamen, due to the increase in domestic consumption capacity since the beginning of this year, there has been a large demand for imported mid-to-high-end clothing and strong demand. Therefore, the import volume of mid-to-high-end clothing has increased, boosting the growth of imported clothing at Xiamen Port.
