On February 8, Asia’s largest professional cloth market in Shaoxing, Zhejiang—China Textile City welcomed the new year.
China Textile City operates more than 50,000 types of textiles. Nearly a quarter of the world’s textiles are traded here. Textiles are exported to 192 countries and regions.
On the day the market opened, business owners were busy sorting out orders and contacting shipping, while buyers purchased fabrics on site. China Textile City Beilian Market, which mainly sells curtains and window screens, has an opening rate of 96%.
In the East District Market of China Textile City, some new merchants are stepping up renovations. Huang Guojun, who has been in business for more than 30 years, is a new merchant in this market. According to him, in the second half of 2021, all types of fabrics of the company will be sold out. Taking advantage of the improving situation, he will switch from old markets to new markets and expand new users.
In 2021, 5,084 new market entities were registered in China Textile City. Huang Guojun said that the Eastern District market has many online customers and resources. He hopes that through hard work this year, the business will reach a new level.
Early in the morning, Shaoxing Wanguan Textile Co., Ltd. received multiple orders. Ruan Qing, general manager of the company, said, “The plan for the year starts with spring. I believe this year will be a good harvest year.”
According to the relevant person in charge of the China Textile City Construction and Management Committee, the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger in the Lunar Calendar comes earlier than in previous years, which also makes the China Textile City close and open earlier. At the same time, due to the impact of the global epidemic, some overseas purchasers were unable to purchase on-site. On that day, domestic purchasers were mainly Chinese.
In January 2022, the fabric market of China Textile City achieved a turnover of 7.27236 billion yuan; the online market achieved a turnover of 3.03875 billion yuan, achieving a “good start”.
