Due to abnormal temperatures and low snowfall in the winter of 2013, the popularity of Austrian ski resorts plummeted, and winter sports products such as ski suits and snowboards were severely unsaleable.
Since the price of ski equipment and clothing products is higher than that of general sports products, stocking up has increased the operating cost pressure of manufacturers. Therefore, the country’s sports brand chain stores have recently begun to carry out large-scale promotions of such products, with discounts as high as 70%. .
Despite this, companies are still optimistic about the sales of sled shoes, with sales expected to be 400,000 pairs. Because of different hygiene considerations and personal preferences, most consumers are willing to buy rather than rent sled shoes. According to a survey by the Austrian Small and Medium Enterprises Research Institute, the actual sales of overall sports products in 2013 dropped by approximately 2.3% compared with 2012.
