Recently, according to customs statistics, a total of 15,000 tons of silk products were exported in 2013, a year-on-year decrease of 10.4%; the export value was US$670 million, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%.
The main export commodities of silk products are factory silk, silk spinning yarn and silk yarn. The total export value of these three commodities accounts for 87.2% of the total export volume of silk commodities. Among them: factory silk exports were 5,939 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.7%; the export volume was US$330 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%; the average unit price was US$56.00/kg, a year-on-year increase of 16.9%. Silk yarn exports were 4,434 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.2%; the export volume was US$110 million, a year-on-year decrease of 5.4%; the average unit price was US$24.68/kg, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%. Silk yarn exports were 2,342 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1%; the export value was US$140 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%; the average unit price was US$60.51/kg, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%.
The top five export markets of silk products in 2013 are: India, with an export value of US$210 million, accounting for 32.1% of exports; Italy, with an export value of US$90 million, accounting for 13.0%; Japan, with an export value of 0.8 billion, accounting for 12.7%; Romania, with an export volume of US$50 million, accounting for 8.1%; Vietnam, with an export volume of US$50 million, accounting for 7.7%.
The top five provinces and cities in terms of silk export volume in 2013 are: Zhejiang, exports US$190 million; Jiangsu, exports US$180 million; Shandong, exports US$70 million; Guangdong, exports US$50 million; Sichuan, exports 50 million US dollars.
