According to statistics from the Spanish Textile and Accessories Trade Association (ACOTEX), by 2014, Spanish winter textile sales will reach 3.6 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 1% to 4%.
ACOTEX Association President Borja Oria said that this winter, especially during the Christmas period, Spanish textile sales exceeded expectations due to improved sales conditions. Textiles sold in winter account for 20% of the annual sales of the Spanish textile industry, and per capita consumer spending is about 80 euros. Affected by the financial crisis, consumers’ shopping behavior has continued to change in recent years, with price becoming the decisive factor affecting purchasing power. Merchants are very effective in attracting consumers through discounts. Discounts of 30% to 50% are an important means of effective promotion for many small businesses. According to BorjaOria, price attractiveness has become the main driving force for this year’s winter promotions. Best-selling winter products are thermal clothing, men’s clothing, women’s clothing, and textiles such as sheets and blankets.
