In the past year, the investment situation in Pakistan’s cotton textile industry was very good, so cotton consumption increased.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Pakistan’s cotton consumption will rise to 2.504 million tons this year. However, according to WTIN, some textile mills are currently facing severe business challenges, especially those that focus on selling to China. Those investments that are vertically integrated or adopt alternative fibers are doing better. Government efforts to crack down on tax avoidance have also adversely affected some businesses.
In view of the above situation, WTIN predicts that Pakistan’s cotton spinning industry may enter a consolidation stage, and further growth may be difficult to achieve in the short to medium term.
