According to statistics released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, from January to November 2013, the United States imported US$96.981 billion in textiles and clothing, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%.
In the first 11 months of 2013, the United States imported textiles and clothing from China accounting for 39.85% of total imports, imports from Vietnam accounted for 8.31%, imports from India accounted for 5.97%, imports from Indonesia accounted for 5.07%, and imports from Bangladesh accounted for 4.88% , imports from Mexico accounted for 4.42%. In addition, U.S. textile and apparel imports from Haiti, Kenya, Portugal, Morocco, Bahrain and Tanzania also showed double-digit increases. In terms of non-clothing products, the United States imported US$47.776 billion in cotton products, US$43.194 billion in man-made fiber products, US$4.419 billion in wool products, and US$1.59 billion in silk and plant fiber products. In 2011 and 2012, the United States imported textiles and clothing exceeding US$100 billion, and it is expected to exceed US$100 billion in 2013.
