Vietnam’s garment industry is developing green production, sustainability and recycling to further promote green exports and maintain competitive advantages.
VuDucGiang, chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), said at the 2022 VITAS conference that as the global market and brands demand more and more green products, High, the entire industry must go green.
For example, the European Commission (European Commission) will adopt a sustainable and circular textile strategy in early 2023; therefore, Vietnamese exporters must improve the sustainability of their products exported to the EU.
Greening measures for the apparel industry include: building green factories, using more environmentally friendly materials, reducing environmental impact, using renewable energy, and reducing energy and water consumption wait.
At present, the most common way to use renewable energy is to use the solar roof of its own factory; other greening measures include: replacing electric boilers and reusing waste water.
Green actions require both government support and active investment by companies to upgrade equipment and technology.

Under this model, it is recommended that manufacturers, while pursuing profits, should improve workers’ living conditions and adopt green production to make the world a greener place.
VITAS Chairman Vu said that Vietnam’s textile and clothing exports will be worth approximately US$44 billion in 2022, an increase of 8.8% compared with 2021; they are mainly exported to 66 countries and regions around the world. .
Looking forward to 2023, the association predicts that under optimism, the export value will reach 47-48 billion U.S. dollars, and under a more pessimistic scenario, the export value will reach 45-46 billion U.S. dollars.
According to the country’s draft development strategy for the textile and clothing industry until 2035, the export value of the industry is expected to grow by 5-6% annually by 2030. -Will grow by 2-3% in 2035. The strategy is still awaiting approval by the Vietnamese government. According to the draft strategy, the textile and clothing industry hopes to achieve recycling goals from 2031 to 2035.
Economist CanVanLuc said at the VITAS conference that the industry needs to promote and promote green environmental protection, green consumption and circular business activities as soon as possible.
