Foreign news reported on November 15 that the cotton yarn trade in southern India was affected by rising prices in the north. Cotton yarn prices in Mumbai increased by Rs 5-7 per kg as textile mills increased selling prices. Many textile mills sold at low prices to avoid losses. Buying interest improved in Tirupur but prices remained stable.

“The recent rise in cotton prices has increased the production costs of textile mills. However, with the arrival of the supply season, buyers have also begun to flood into the market. Textile mills are not too keen Selling at current prices. So yarn prices are supported and demand continues to remain subdued,” said a trader in Mumbai.

In Mumbai, the price of warp and weft yarn of 60 count carded cotton yarn is Rs 1720-1770 and Rs 1650-1670 per 5 kg (excluding GST), 60 count fine Carded warp yarn is 360-365 rupees per kilogram, 80 count combed weft yarn is 1540-1580 rupees per 4.5kg, 44/46 count slub cotton yarn is 318-323 rupees per kilogram, 40/41 count slub cotton yarn is 305-310 rupees per kilogram, 40/ 41 count worsted cotton yarn 325-330 rupees per kg.
