Argentina will impose new anti-dumping tariffs on Chinese textile products from July 22, indicating that the trade dispute over China’s ban on imports of Argentine soybean oil may escalate. Argentina suspended imports of Argentine soybean oil at the end of March 2010 due to anti-dumping measures against Chinese steel, footwear and other products.
Argentina is the world’s No. 1 exporter of soybean oil. In 2009, Argentina exported 1.84 million tons of soybean oil to China, with a trade volume of US$1.4 billion, accounting for 77% of China’s soybean oil imports.
