According to Pakistan’s “News” report, the cotton output in Sindh Province of Pakistan in the last fiscal year (July 2009 to June 2010) was as high as 4.2 million bales, which was higher than that in the 2009 fiscal year (July 2008 to June 2009). 2.9 million bales of cotton increased by 1.3 million bales, an increase of 44.83%.
According to reports, the large-scale planting of insect-resistant cotton is the main reason for the sharp increase in cotton production in the province. Data show that the province currently has a total cotton planting area of 1.7 million hectares.
