According to a report by the Syrian News Agency on July 4, the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Trade issued a decree allowing exporters to import cowhide and process it into leather products for export within 6 months of the promulgation of the decree. Ministry of Economy and Trade spokesman Al Fayad said the decree was adopted in response to the needs of the Syrian Industry, Agriculture and Business Association and the Leather Industry Association.
