Thailand’s textile and garment industry continued to pick up in the first quarter of this year, with exports of US$1.7842 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%. The main supporting factor was the good economic recovery of trading partner countries. , including the United States, Japan, and ASEAN countries, causing market demand to rise. In comparison, Thailand’s textile imports in the first quarter were US$1.3739 billion, giving the overall industry a trade surplus of US$410.3 million.
The Minister of Industry stated that it will step up the promotion of the “Thailand Textile Label” to provide quality certification for Thai textiles, increase buyer confidence, and support the continued growth of exports. This year, the department has received applications from 26 companies for the “Thailand Textile Label”, totaling 43 products. In the past three years, the department has received applications from 104 companies for the “Thailand Textile Label”, with a total of 193 products.
Companies participating in the “Thailand Textile Labeling” project will not only receive product research and development knowledge from experts, but will also receive new production technology and quality control technology from the government. This will enhance market recognition. At the same time, the department has also added a search function for quality certified products and added a digital platform for quality certification applications.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce, Thailand’s textile exports from January to April this year were US$2.32998 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.72%. The top three export markets are the United States with US$442.96 million, a year-on-year increase of 16.36%; Japan with US$252.69 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.04%; Vietnam with approximately US$183.6 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.95%.
