Tanzania’s President calls for increased investment in textile industry

Call on industry insiders to invest in the textile industry and emphasize that the government supports the development of the textile industry and encourages clothing manufacturing and exports. President Hassan mentioned that San Island imports millions of dollars of clothing every year. These products could have been produced in Tanzania. Tanzania now needs to change the model of exporting cotton and importing clothing, vigorously develop the textile industry, produce clothing and sell it to the international market. More jobs created for the people of Tanzania. President Hassan also said that Tanzania’s cotton planting industry has an optimistic future. The development of the domestic textile industry will stimulate an increase in demand for raw materials and cotton prices will rise. The Basra Textile Factory is invested by a Kenyan company and will cost US$51 million. It will be completed in 2024. It will create 1,600 jobs and produce 250,000 meters of fabric per day, mainly sold to East and Central African markets.
