In preparation for the Techtextil exhibition to be held in Frankfurt at the end of June, nine participating VDMA member companies will present their highlights for the technical textiles market at a virtual online VDMA launch event with the theme “Sustainability of technical textiles” technology”. A series of VDMA technology online lectures are planned before the exhibition, as well as on-site lectures during the exhibition.
Dr. Janpeter Horn, Chairman of the VDMATextile Machinery Association and Managing Director of August Herzog Maschinenfabrik said in the introduction: “This year’s Techtextil is the first trade fair for the European textile industry since 2019. An important exhibition and gathering. For the first time, VDMA will set up a pavilion in Hall 12. In total, more than 40 VDMA member companies will exhibit in Frankfurt, underscoring the importance of the exhibition.”
The following companies’ speeches are based on the order of the textile industry chain:
Mr. André Wissenberg from Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions explains:
“Oerlikon, located in Hall 12.0, stand C60, offers improved performance through sustainable solutions for multiple applications in the technical textile market: 2 is antique, 4 is old school, 8 is yesterday… and 16 is Oerlikon! It’s now ! This is new! This is today’s modern production of high-strength PET yarns. With maximum efficiency and bestquality, production figures such as >98 % full bobbin rate, up to 72 hours without breakage and AA quality up to 8.5 cN/dtex @1100f192.” Mr. Wissenberg continued: “Oerlikon invites you to experience high strength through its innovative technical solutionspolyester andnylonyarns. In addition, the company will demonstrate its latest melt-blown technology “hycuTec”. Water-added solutions The pressure loss of a typical FFP2 filter medium can be reduced to less than a quarter. In a typical filter medium of 35 Pa and 35 g/m², even filtration efficiencies exceeding 99.99% are easily achieved. In the manufacturing of FFP2 masks Tests carried out in pilot customers confirmed that the improved filtration is accompanied by a 30% reduction in material usage. For the end user, the result is a significant reduction in breathing resistance and thus a significant increase in comfort.”
Mr. José Canga Rodriguez from Dienes Apparatebau said: “The development of innovative and sustainable technical textiles requires efficient systematization and partly self-optimizing experimental work systems. With MultiMode® we offer maximum process flexibility. The DIENES factory is made up of Made up of intelligent modules that can be easily replaced and rearranged. We support our customers in their work, from the first laboratory tests to the modular construction of the production line.”
Dennis Behnken of Herzog says: “For us at Herzog, sustainability is more than just a word. We rely on it. For ten years we have been gettingEnvironmentalEnergy. With long-life machine designs and energy-saving motors, we offer our customers sustainable knitting machines. Even recycled yarn can be knitted without affecting machine speed or product quality Processing. At Techtextil we are demonstrating our first-in-class core-spinning weaving technology, equipped with a new heat-setting device.”
“A smart way to ensure more sustainability and greater transparency is to use drives as sensors to directly observe the machine. This, combined with the domain expertise to draw the right conclusions from the data obtained, can lead to reduced waste, increased machine availability and improved process,” said Mr. Falk Vespermann of Lenz AG.
Mr. Christine Wolters explains what visitors to the Techtextil exhibition can expect from KARL MAYER:
“At Techtextil 2022, the KARL MAYER Group will present technology solutions for integrating and optimizing processes to reduce resource consumption, energy use and waste in the textile value chain. Examples include applications in textiles3D printingenhanced structures, as well as the use of electronics for the production of wearable devices directly onwarp knittingmachines. Additionally, the use of traditional textile products will be demonstrated Sustainable alternatives, including 4D-KNIT – a clothing solution that reduces microplastic pollution – andcomposites made from the renewable raw material Flax. p>
Mr. Andreas Mondry of Ontec Automation summarized his presentation as follows: “For 25 years, Ontec has been providing sustainable and state-of-the-art solutions to the textile industry, covering the following areas: Coating / Winding / Automatic Creel Feeding / Scrim production, robotics and automation, Internet of Things – SPSCOMM, a universal interface for smart production for Industry 4.0. Ontec stands for: People-centered innovation – our success lies in our employees.”
“DORNIER weaving machines cover the entire range of fabric production, from very fine to very coarse fabrics. Because whether you want to filter water, air, blood or gases: there is a global demand for high-quality filters.’s demand is growing. Among other things, this is due to more stringent environmental and sustainability requirements that require more comprehensive performance parameters. In order to continuously improve the tightness and quality of our filter cloths, we are further developing our machines in close cooperation with our customers,” says Wolfgang Schöffl of DORNIER.
Dr. Wesley Clements of Baldwin Technologies explains how to eliminate chemical waste and reduce energy consumption during the textile finishing process: High pick-up rates lead to high energy consumption, and frequent changes of fleece produce large amounts of avoidable chemical waste. This is a revolution. There is a solution. With the help of Baldwin’s non-contact precision spraying system, brands and factories are starting to see the light. These systems improve product quality, improve factory profitability and provide quantifiable sustainability benefits, in addition to providing traceability through OPC connectivity to the factory ERP system. ”
Mr. Matthias Wulbeck from Mano said: “In the context of current events in Europe and the extreme rise in energy prices, online quality control innonwovensand textile production processes is more important than ever It’s never more important”, adds his colleague Stephan Kehry: “Production errors, for example due to applying too large or too small a quantity during the coating process, can have a greater impact and cause sensitive losses for the manufacturer. For more than 75 years, Manor has been providing optimal solutions for quality control and energy saving, which is reflected in very short payback periods and corresponding profit optimization.”
