On April 26, 2017, the U.S. Consumer Safety Commission (CPSC) and FatFaceCorp. jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made women’s jackets.
The recalled products include two styles of women’s jackets, the pullover style (style code is 918043) and the zipper (open placket) style (style code is 918041). The style code is printed on a wash label sewn into the seam of the jacket. The pullover fabric is made of 97% cotton and 3% polyester, and the color is milky white. The collar is 3.5 inches tall and can be tightened or loosened using the drawcord in the center of the collar. Kangaroo pocket at bottom front. The zippered jacket is made of 97% cotton and 3% polyester with Yarmouth texture. Colors include ivory, green, lavender (lavender). The hood can be tightened or loosened with a drawstring. The jacket is equipped with a silver metal zipper that extends from the collar to the bottom of the jacket, with two pockets on each side of the zipper.
Approximately 400 units of the recalled product were sold in FatFace stores in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island and the www.fatface.com online store from September 2016 to January 2017. The unit price is about $60. The reason for the recall is that the product does not meet the requirements of the US Federal Regulations on the Flammability Standards for Apparel and Textiles and poses a risk of burns. So far, the company has received one report of burns caused by using the product.
