Bangladesh CSI Engineers & Consultants Ltd. has completed the first test run of industrial pineapple fiber production equipment. Pineapple fiber is mainly used in small-scale industrial handicrafts and high-unit-price wedding dresses. Large-scale application requires more research and professional knowledge.
According to media reports, this fiber made from pineapple leaves has strong potential for sustainable fashion. The biggest challenge facing CSI is to find local partners for the first trial. , the second challenge is to make pineapple fiber ready for industrial production.
Pineapple fiber is rough and brittle, requiring mechanical and chemical processing to make it suitable for textiles and clothing products. But its properties apply to home textiles, denim and other garments, whether in 100% ingredient form or combined with other sustainable materials.
CSI, through the research center and local partners, continues to study the transformation of pineapple fiber into fiber yarn for fashion and industrial textiles, and will continue to invest in more research and funds to achieve the ultimate goal of improving fiber properties and making it one of the sustainable materials for textiles and clothing.
