Which one is better, rayon or pure cotton?
Rayon and cotton each have their own advantages.
Rayon is what most people call viscose fabric, and its main component is viscose staple fiber. It has the comfort of cotton, the toughness and strength of polyester, and the softness of silk.
100 cotton refers to clothing or supplies with 100% cotton content, usually plain cloth, poplin, twill cloth, denim, etc. Unlike ordinary cloth, it has the advantages of deodorization, breathability, comfort, etc.
Their differences are as follows:
1. The raw materials are different. Pure cotton is cotton, cotton fiber is a natural plant fiber; rayon is a combination of sawdust, plants, straw and other wood fibers and is a chemical fiber;
2. The yarns are different. Cotton is white and has good strength, but cotton has neps and different thicknesses; rayon has poor strength, but has uniform thickness and is better colored than cotton;
3. The cloth surface is different. Cotton raw material has many defects; rayon has less; cotton’s tear strength is higher than rayon. Rayon is better colored than cotton;
4. The feel characteristics are different. Rayon is soft to the touch��. The drape is stronger than cotton; but the wrinkle resistance is not as good as cotton and it wrinkles easily;
How to distinguish These two fabrics?
Artificial cotton has a good luster and a smooth hand feel. It is easy to distinguish it from pure cotton yarn when compared together.
1. Water absorption method. Put both rayon and cotton into the water at the same time, so whichever piece absorbs water and sinks faster is rayon, because rayon has better water absorption.
2. Touch method. Let’s touch these two fabrics. The one with smoother feel is rayon.
3. Observation method. Observe the two fabrics carefully. The one with the best luster is rayon.
