On July 19, 2021, the WTO Safeguards Committee released the safeguard notification submitted to it by the Indonesian delegation. On June 29, 2021, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance issued Regulation No. 78/PMK.010/2021, amending the safeguard measures for imported fabrics (Fabrics) determined in Regulation 55/PMK.010/2020, and replacing fabrics under tax code 5804. The special tariff calculation method was changed from Indonesian rupiah/meter to Indonesian rupiah/kilogram (see the table below for details); at the same time, safeguard measures began to be implemented on the imported products involved in the case from Malaysia and Vietnam. The regulations will take effect from July 13, 2021. The Indonesian tax numbers of the products involved are 5208.12.00, 5208.32.00, 5208.49.00, 5208.51.90, 5208.52.90, 5209.12.00, 5209.22.00, 5209.29.00, 6006.42.90, 6006.43.90, 6006. 44.10 , 6006.44.90, etc.
On September 18, 2019, Indonesia launched an investigation into safeguard measures against imported fabrics. On March 3, 2020, Indonesia made final safeguard measures on imported fabrics. On May 27, 2020, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance issued Regulation 55/PMK.010/2020 in its official gazette, deciding to implement a three-year special tariff on imported fabrics from May 27, 2020 to November 8, 2022. The annual safeguard measures are calculated in Indonesian rupiah/meter.
