Recently, Sweden’s Renewcell and Switzerland’s HeiQ signed a strategic partnership to prioritize the replacement of environmentally polluting polyester fibers in textiles, using the textile-to-textile recycling provided by Renewcell. Circular HeiQ AeoniQ cellulose filament yarn manufactured from CIRCULOSE pulp.

Joining forces to create sustainable eco-friendly yarns
Leveraging their shared vision for the circular and bio-based textile industry, HeiQ and Renewcell have joined forces to create 100% recycled and bio-based high-strength filament yarns. Commercializing as a viable large-scale alternative to fossil fibers such as nylon and polyester, thereby enabling true circularity in the textile industry.
Waste Recycled Fiber
Circulose is a branded dissolving pulp product. Renewcell is made from 100% textile waste, such as worn jeans and production waste. Dissolving pulp cellulose is used by the textile industry to make viscose, lyocell, modal, acetate and other types of regenerated fibers (also known as “man-made cellulose fibers”). The only difference with Circulose is that it’s made from textile waste instead of wood.

HeiQ AeoniQ yarn Thread
HeiQ AeoniQ yarn (Aeon: striving for eternal circulation) is made from cellulosic biopolymers that bind atmospheric carbon while producing oxygen during the growth process. This high-performance yarn has the potential to replace synthetic filament yarns, which account for more than 60% of global textile production of 108 million metric tons per year. In addition, compared to traditional cellulose products, HeiQ AeoniQ yarn does not occupy arable land, pesticides or fertilizers during the production process. HeiQ AeoniQ yarns are designed for cradle-to-cradle cycles and are recyclable while maintaining consistent fiber quality. The manufacturing process is expected to consume 99% less water than cotton yarn, and HeiQ AeoniQ is designed to provide performance comparable to polyester, nylon and traditional regenerated cellulose yarns.
It is reported that Xinxiang Chemical Fiber proposed a “feasibility study report on a new cellulose filament project with an annual output of 10,000 tons” in 2017. The project has now entered the large-scale final trial production stage.
