Israel Textile and Apparel Association criticizes local government for purchasing national flags from China

According to the Israel Manufacturers Association, 90% of local governments in Israel currently purchase Israeli flags from China, with the total purchase amount reaching US$500,000 in 2009, causing damage to the Israeli economy, which is experiencing recession and rising unemployment.
Among them, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Tel Aviv, the city purchased 8,000 Israeli flags from China, worth US$60,000. The chairman of the textile and apparel branch of the association criticized that Israel is in the midst of an economic crisis and rising unemployment. If 20-30% of flag procurement is redirected domestically, at least 200-300 jobs can be added to Israel, so the city government purchases from China. The behavior of the flag was very inappropriate. The city government stated that the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the city requires large quantities of national flags, and importing them from China can save 50% of the cost.
