According to news from Turkey, the Turkish Texitile Giant Taha Group is planning to import 20 million US dollars worth of ready-made garments from Myanmar. The director of the company’s procurement department made the above decision after visiting Yangon in early April and plans to import it in May. Set up a representative office in Myanmar and send quality inspection technicians to Myanmar, and prepare to purchase large quantities of CMP products made in Myanmar. The first phase of the order plan is for 20 million pieces of CMP finished products. The first batch of goods will be delivered in June 2009. If successful, the scope of orders and cooperation will be expanded, including the opening of a new factory and the transfer of branches located in China to Myanmar.
According to the director, the Turkish Texitile Giant Taha Group, which is affiliated with TEMA Megazacilik Company, has 230 retail fashion stores in its country, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, with annual clothing sales exceeding 70 million pieces. Turkish Texitile Giant Taha Group has a total of 14 garment factories in the country, as well as branch factories in China, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Its three famous brands, LC Waikiki, SMH Blue, and XSIDE, are spread throughout the region. In 2008, TEMA Megazacilik Company imported more than 20 million pieces of clothing from Bangladesh. In 2009, it plans to expand its imported clothing to 38 million pieces, and plans to import 20 million pieces of clothing from Myanmar by the end of 2010. All orders to Myanmar will be processed in accordance with the CMP method, and raw materials are planned to be imported through TEMA Megazacilik Company’s Shanghai branch in China from June 2009.
