Pakistan’s cotton production reduced by 10,000 bales

The cotton harvest in Sindh and Punjab, the main cotton-producing areas of Pakistan, is coming to an end. According to the Pakistan Cotton Gin Association report, as of March 1, ginners had received 11.2 million bales of raw cotton, which was 1410 million bales compared with the 2008/09 fiscal year target of 14.1 million bales. There is a shortage of nearly 3 million packages of 10,000 packages. The main reason for the decrease in cotton production is that the cotton planting area decreased by 7% due to the increase in rice and sugarcane prices.
