According to Thailand’s “World Journal”, the dean of Thailand’s Textile Development Industry said that in 2008, Thailand’s textile exports totaled US$7.289 billion, and set a 10% growth target for Thailand’s textile exports in 2009, with total exports of approximately US$8 billion. Japan, which once invested in China, has turned to increasing investment in Thailand, which will help promote the development of Thailand’s textile industry.
Thailand’s textile exports are also supported by the Thailand-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA), which promotes an increase in Thai textile exports to Japan. What is currently worrying is Japan’s use of non-tariff trade barriers, requiring the government to help negotiate to lift the above obstacles. In response to the issue of corporate layoffs, it was emphasized that there will be no serious problems in the textile industry. If a textile factory closes, workers can be transferred to another factory to work, and the factory needs experienced workers. The Textile Development Industrial Institute has set goals to focus on strengthening the development of the bleaching and dyeing industry.
