According to Vietnam’s “Economic Times” report, the Industrial and Trade Information Center of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam stated on March 2 that Vietnam’s textile exports in the first two months of 2009 were approximately US$1.15 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 12%.
According to reports, currently 70% of Vietnam’s textile export companies have only received production orders until March. The order volume of textile export enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City decreased by 30-50% year-on-year. The US market, which accounted for 55% of Vietnam’s textile export market share in 2008, saw its order volume decrease by 1/2 in the first two months of 2009.
