According to the Kathmandu Post, the Nepalese government plans to restart the Haitaoda Textile Factory in mid-April after being closed for seven years.
The newly appointed factory manager said that production will be restarted after necessary repairs, for which the factory will re-employ previous skilled workers and requested the government to provide start-up capital of 110 million rupees. The Haitaoda Textile Factory closed in February 2001 after seven years of losses. The government tried to auction it off several times but failed. It previously employed 1,186 workers.
