According to Indonesian media, Indonesia has imported 6 products including clothing and shoes since December 15, 2008, and must be imported by registered legal importers and at designated ports and international airports.

Indonesian Trade Minister Mrs. Mari Elka Pangestu said that Regulation No. 44/M-DAG/PER/10/2008 was signed on October 31, 2008, regarding the import regulations of consumer products such as clothing and shoes to protect Indonesia’s domestic market and For related industries, the regulations will take effect from December 15, 2008 to December 31, 2010, with an implementation period of 2 years.

The above products must be imported through 5 ports including Jakarta Tanjung Pulu, Sambalong Tanjung Emmas, Surabaya Tanjung Perak, Medan Belawan, Tinjang Sugano Hatta and all international airports. And only importers registered with the government can import the above products. It takes about 7 days to complete the registration, and the longest is 40 days. In addition, the importer must conduct inspection at the loading port before the goods are shipped, and bear the cost at their own expense.
