According to fiber2fashion, the Nigerian Manufacturers Association and the Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association jointly requested the government to take restrictive measures on Chinese textiles.

At a forum jointly held by the National Textile Federation, the Garment Tailors Association, and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the above requirements became the main topic. Chinese textiles are often labeled as Made in Nigeria and mislead consumers, affecting the development of domestic industries.

Paul Olarewaju, executive chairman of the Nigeria Manufacturers Association, said that these textiles and clothing have monopolized Ibadan, Kano, Lagos, Niger Republic, and Onitsha regions, restricting the development of domestic industries.
