The United States will monitor Chinese textile and garment imports

It was learned from the China Textile Industry Association that at the request of the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) will release a statistical report on China’s textile and garment imports every two weeks starting from December 1, 2008 to monitor the quantity of Chinese products. .

It is understood that the reason why China’s imports need to be monitored is because after the textile trade memorandum between China and the United States expires on December 31, 2008, the surge in textiles and garments from China may have a devastating impact on the U.S. market. U.S. domestic industries hope that these statistics will be useful when requiring special safeguard measures or anti-dumping investigations against Chinese products in the future.
