Bangladesh’s garment exports grow strongly

From July to August 2008, Bangladesh exported US$2.9 billion, an increase of 20% compared with the same period in 2007. Among them, garment exports were US$2.243 billion, a year-on-year increase of 44%; footwear exports were US$43 million, a year-on-year increase of 66%. Bangladesh has set an export target of US$16.3 billion for the 2008-09 fiscal year, a year-on-year increase of 15.6%.
