The China Dyestuff Industry Association led a delegation of 10 powerful domestic dye companies to visit Bangladesh from October 23 to 25. During the visit, the delegation held discussions and exchanges with the Bangladesh Textile Mills and Exporters Association. The China Dyestuff Industry Association introduced the development status of China’s dye industry in recent years as well as the production and export of China’s dyes. Bangladesh is one of China’s major dye exporters. In 2007, China exported a total of 11,000 tons of dyes to Bangladesh, worth more than 31 million US dollars, ranking 9th among exporting countries. There are four main categories of dyes exported to Bangladesh: reactive dyes, sulfur dyes, direct dyes, and organic pigments, of which reactive dyes account for 37% and sulfur dyes account for 32%. The members of the Bangladesh Textile Mills and Exporters Association consist of 1,100 textile companies, including 325 spinning mills, 550 weaving mills, and 250 printing and dyeing mills. 98% of Bangladesh’s knitting yarn and fabrics are provided by domestic companies, 40% of woven yarns and fabrics are provided by domestic companies, and the rest are imported. Most knitwear dyes in Bangladesh use reactive dyes, 70% of woven fabric dyes use reactive dyes and 30% use vat dyes. Bangladesh does not produce dyes and mainly imports them from China, India and Europe. During the discussion, the China Dyestuff Industry Association proposed that in order to strengthen communication and understanding between the two sides and increase opportunities for mutual visits in the future, China invites Bangladeshi companies to participate in the International Dyestuff Exhibition held in China and arranges visits to Chinese dye production companies. It also recommends that Bangladeshi companies Directly contact Chinese dye manufacturers to reduce the involvement of middlemen and reduce price costs. Encourage Chinese companies to build joint venture factories in Bangladesh and hope that Bangladeshi companies will participate. Enterprises from both sides conducted face-to-face exchanges during the forum.
During the visit, the delegation visited the Bangladesh textile printing and dyeing factory under the arrangement of the Bangladesh Textile Mills and Exporters Association.
