Pakistan’s apparel exports increase to the United States but decrease to Europe

According to Pakistan’s “Business Record” report, a report released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) showed that from 2003 to 2007, Pakistan’s clothing exports to the United States increased slightly and declined to Europe.

Pakistan’s share of the EU market for apparel exports dropped from 1.7% in 2003 to 1.5%. Bangladesh’s share increased from 6.6% in 2003 to 7.1%, which is 5.6 percentage points higher than Pakistan. India’s share increased and was 4.7 percentage points higher than Pakistan.

The report said that Pakistan’s apparel export share of the US market increased from 1.6% in 2003 to 2.0%, but India and Bangladesh increased to 4.3% and 4.0% respectively.
