Türkiye imports thousands of tons of US cotton, half of which is used for open-end spinning

From last weekend to this Monday, Turkey imported thousands of tons of raw cotton, mainly American cotton.

According to statistics, imports include 6,000-7,000 tons of US cotton (about half of which is used for open-end spinning), and the price is 61.75-65.75 cents/pound, of which 2/3 of the cotton is imported through GSM (US Cotton Export Guarantee) . In addition, some consignment stocks of Indian quilts were sold in Messing Port.

The delivery price of Urfa Standard 1 from ginneries in China is 59.50 cents/pound.

The Turkish lira has fallen sharply against the U.S. dollar recently, but its exchange rate against the euro has remained relatively strong. This puts double pressure on textile mills to import foreign cotton and export textiles to European countries.
