The ginning process is the main process of cotton processing, so the cotton gin is the main equipment for cotton processing. According to the ginning principle, the cotton gin can be divided into two categories: top roller gin and sawtooth gin.
1. Top roller gin
Top roller gin has the characteristics of simple structure, low cost, slow ginning action, and difficulty in breaking cotton fibers. Therefore, this type of gin is suitable for processing long-staple cotton and fine cotton with poor maturity. Velvet cotton.
The embossing effect of the top roller is relatively gentle, and it is not easy to damage the fibers. There are also fewer defects in the embossing process, but there are yellow roots. It is suitable for processing long-staple cotton and low-grade cotton. Seed cotton is also processed by a top roller gin, and the lint is in the form of sheets.
2. Sawtooth gin
The sawtooth gin uses hundreds of circular saw blades to grab the cotton, and carry the cotton through the ribs embedded in the middle of the saw blades. Because the cotton is larger than the gap between the ribs, it is blocked. Thereby the cotton fibers are separated from the cotton seeds.
The sawtooth gin has special impurity removal equipment, so the sawtooth cotton has low impurity content and low lint content. However, due to the intense saw-tooth ginning, it is easy to damage longer fibers, and it is also easy to produce ginning defects, such as neps and cords, and a high content of fiber scraps. Because the fibers are pulled down by the saw teeth during cotton ginning, the lint is in a loose state. The output of the sawtooth gin is high, and all fine cotton is ginning with sawtooth.
Generally speaking, the yarn strength and evenness of sawtooth cotton are relatively high, but there are many defects in the rolling process, and the yarn has more neps and impurities. Top roller cotton yarn has relatively few neps and impurities.
