Movement control measures cost Malaysian textile industry up to MYR 100 million

According to the “Nanyang Siang Pau” report on April 9, Chen Congjin, president of the Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association, said that since the movement control order was issued, the industry has been suspended for one month. Previously, Malaysia’s textile exports and domestic sales averaged approximately 1.2 billion ringgit each month. Therefore, the Chamber of Commerce estimates that during the implementation of the movement control order, the losses in the Malaysian textile industry have reached 2.4 billion ringgit.
