According to Bangladesh’s “Financial Express” report on April 20, due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, Bangladesh’s Chittagong Port is facing a serious backlog of container cargo. The Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh requires garment manufacturers to move imported goods into their own warehouses as soon as possible to avoid backlogs at seaports and airports. The Textile Department of the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh announced on Friday that nearly 50% of the containers backlogged in Chittagong Port belong to member companies of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturing Association and the Bangladesh Textile Industry Export Association. Chittagong Port currently has a backlog of more than 51,000 standard containers, far exceeding the port’s capacity of 36,000 containers.
